MEET AIMEE ARSENIAN, LCMHC, ATR
You deserve to receive the support you need.
Therapist in Bedford, New Hampshire & online in NH, MA, ME & VT. Also offering art therapy and walk-and-talk sessions.
You’re going through something…but you’re wondering if you really need professional help.
Many of the people I work with are used to figuring things out by themselves, and don’t feel comfortable asking for help. Or they’ve tried therapy before and it didn't go well, and they’re not sure about doing it again.
They’re the ones keeping it together for everyone else while their own life feels like it's shrinking into the background. They might be dealing with something that rocked their world—a divorce, diagnosis, a loss, or major life disruption—and are now just going through the motions.
My work also includes men who can’t figure out why pushing through isn’t helping like it used to, as well as teenagers who are buckling under the full weight of the teenage experience while their parents watch and worry.
Some of my clients are sitting on thoughts and feelings so intense they don’t even know if they can—or should—talk about them.
And almost all of them nearly talked themselves out of calling me, because they figured their situation was either too much or not enough.
My clients have one thing in common: They’re so hard on themselves.
And through this work, they learn they don’t need to be.
HOW I WORK
Your growth is my priority.
Just like you, I'm a real person with my own stuff. You'll probably hear me swear or stumble over my words sometimes—because we’re all human and fallible. And it’s important for me to show you that is okay.
My approach is rather eclectic and uses a variety of methods like CBT, art therapy, DBT, IFS, and motivational interviewing. Sometimes I like to get up and draw on my whiteboard to show you how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and where there's room to make changes.
Together, we’ll dive into why you respond to things the way you do so you can start choosing differently.
In my time working at a psychiatric hospital and in community mental health centers, I sat with people through suicidal thoughts, self-harm, intense anger, and grief that felt like it would never end. There is nothing you can bring into this room that will rattle me, so I encourage you to let it all out.
We can sit, walk, or make something—depending on how you feel that day.
I'm a registered art therapist, which means I spent years training in how to use creative expression as a clinical tool. You don't need to be good at art or even like art—it's about the process, not the product. I keep supplies near my desk so they're always accessible, and yes, if you want to throw out what you made at the end of the session, that's fine too.
If you'd rather go for a walk, we can do laps around the building or sit outside at the picnic table with a coffee. If you just want to talk, let’s do that.
This is your time. It’s my job to make sure it’s well spent.
Therapy with me is:
Directed by you, what you want to work on, and how you want to do it.
Being taken seriously, whether this is your first time in therapy or your fifth attempt.
Honest feedback when I notice a pattern that's getting in your way.
Understanding why you do certain things and how to change them.
Knowing that nothing you say is going to scare me or make me uncomfortable.
Inclusive of all sexualities, races, and gender-identities.
Therapy with me is not:
Being told what to do with your time or your life.
A one-size-fits-all approach or a fixed program I'm going to make you follow.
Needing to prove your problems are bad enough to deserve help.
Sitting on a couch and talking if that's not how you work best.
Being pushed into something before you're ready.
Changing the subject or tiptoeing around topics.
